How Does Temperature Gun Work?

You can check the surface temperature in one second! Hot and cold spots are something that we can’t see. Thermometers give a quick and easy way to show people what you feel. Add an Infrared Temperature Gun to your collection. It can tell you the surface thermal reading, from any surface you point it at. This is a really helpful tool to have. It can help you find the evidence you need. And detect any fast changes in the heat.

Check if something you can’t see is there

If you point the non-contact thermometer in one spot. And you notice it changes rapidly. It is possible a spirit or ghost is walking in front of the laser beam.

Using a Temperature Gun is also a good idea. As spirits can be weak and may not always have a strong signal. They may not be able to trigger your trigger objects, such as the EMF meter. It should still be able to make a surface temperature change.

No training or knowledge is required to use it

Using a Temperature Gun in your ghost hunting even. It is an easy way to keep track of the changes and spikes which take place within a room with ease. As you just point it at the area. Where you would like to measure. Some people even use a thermometer for cooking.

Take a base reading before you start going

You can use your Temperature Gun to record the temperature of many areas and surfaces. You can do this before. During, and after your event.

To achieve this, just walk through the area and note down the temperature. All things, including door frames, all surfaces and objects. Then, repeat these steps during and after your ghost hunt.

Haste Free Temperature Gun to Check for Cold Spots

You may also want to use your Temperature Gun for ghost hunting. To inform where you should be setting up the rest of your ghost hunting gear.

To accomplish this, just walk through the area in which you are doing your thing. And take your readings when you feel any cold spots. Or considerable changes in the area.

Then you can set up your other equipment. Such as EVP recorders, Spirit Boxes and cameras within that area. As changes are a good indicator of paranormal activity.

Take regular readings with your thermometers

It is up to you if you would like to take these readings at regular intervals. During your evening, such as every hour or every 30 minutes.

Use it more in haunted areas

Before you start your tour. You may also want to identify the areas of interest in the building. In which you are doing your ghost hunt. Which have the most amount of paranormal activity.

To accomplish this, just set up trigger devices around the area. Such as motion alarms. And then take in depth reading. Using your non-contact thermometer for ghost hunting.

Are They Safe to Use?

Infrared thermometers are very safe. They do not make any heat and are low voltage. You just want to avoid pointing the infrared beam into a person’s eyes. They do not have a powerful laser. But pointing it into a person’s eyes for any length of time can cause eye damage. So it is best to just be safe and avoid doing that.

Can it be used on humans?

Yes, we do recommend you use them on humans! If you or a team member is feeling a cold or hot spot on your arm. Do a reading on that spot. And then do it above and below that spot to test what they are feeling.

IR Temperature Gun non-contact for Covid

Since the virus, they are often used for checking body the heat levels. Sales have grown for the infrared forehead thermometer. The digital laser temperature gun 58 for non-contact digital laser IR temperature checks.

As it is a good way of testing if you have the virus. Even from a long way away. Its advantage to a probe thermometer is speed. And the fact that it is non-contact.

Taking care of the lens

Care must be taken with the lens. The infrared waves are focused and filtered with the lens. Therefore, if the lens gets dirty or damaged in any way. The accuracy can change at some temperatures. If it comes with a case. We suggest you keep it in there when it is not in use. Place it down gently. And do not put it in a bag or with anything that can scratch it.

Infrared thermometer limits

As it is the surface of an object that emits infrared. Any infrared thermometer will not measure its internal core heat. You cannot measure through any coverings. Such as glass, polythene or cling film. And any surface you are measuring must be dust free and clean. It is not possible to check the air temperature, either. They usually have ranges of -58 f to 1022 f (-50 c to 550 c).

Which is the Best Temperature Gun?

There is not really a better model or brand, it is just personal choice. They all do just about the same thing, and they are all very accurate. Just pick one you like the look of and that has a backlit LCD.

Infrared thermometers are a common tool used in finding evidence. As it is scientific and factual, it is hard for it to be disproved. If you catch a drop at the same time and something else. Such as unexplained noises. It will help prove what is happening is not normal.

Large range of lasers infrared thermometers

We have a range of Temperature Guns for ghost hunting. All you need to suit all your ghost hunting needs. If you choose the standard non-contact thermometer. Or even our Thermal Imaging Gun. For a live reading and thermal imaging.

They can all test the temperature. And tell you the surface reading. We recommend picking one with a good distance to spot ratio. Which shows the high and low temperature. And comes with an LCD screen, and has a battery included. Check it is an infrared thermometer, non-contact digital.

Infrared thermometers are really cheap compared to many other ghost hunting items. So, if you are on a budget, it is a handy to get a thermometer. Hot and cold spots are very common in haunted places. And it is nice to be able to prove what you and your team members can feel. This is why we highly always them.

Discovery of Infrared Radiation

Infrared was first found in 1800. By the Sir William Herschel as a form of radiation. Beyond the red light, we can see. These infrared rays were used mainly for thermal measurement. There are four known basic laws of IR radiation. Which is Planck’s law, Kirchhoff’s law of thermal radiation. The Stefan–Boltzmann law, and Wiens’ displacement law. The creation of detectors was mainly focused on the use of bolometers. And thermometers until World War I.

Then a large step in the detectors happened in 1829. When Leopoldo Nobili created the first known thermocouple. He then made an improved thermometer into a crude thermopile. In 1833, he invented and called it a multielement thermopile. Which was able to detect a person 10 metres away. The next big step in detectors was the bolometer. Which was invented by Samuel Pierpont Langley in 1880. Langley and Charles Greeley Abbot carried on adjusting this. By the late 1901, it could detect radiation from a cow from 400 metres away.

It was so accurate it could detect changes as small as 0.00001 C. The first available thermal imaging camera was released in 1965. Which was for high voltage power line tests. The first advanced use of IR technology. It was in the civil section was a device to detect the presence of icebergs. Then it was used in steam ships using a mirror and thermopile. Which was patented in 1913. This was soon replaced by the first IR iceberg detector. Which did not use thermopiles. It was patented in 1914 by R.D. Parker. This was then followed by G.A. Barker’s idea to use the system to detect forest fires in 1934. This technique did not really take off. Until it was used in the testing of heating in 1935.

What is emissivity

It is the measurement of the efficiency. In which a surface emits energy. It is defined as the fraction. Which is relative to that emitted by a thermal black surface. A black surface is a perfect material that is an emitter of heat energy. It has a value of 1. Any material with a value of 0. It would be a perfect thermal mirror. If the object can emit 100 units of energy. But it only emits 90 units in the real world. Then this object would have a value of 0.90. In the real world, there are no perfect blacks which measure 1. And very few perfect mirrors exist, so most objects have a value between 0 and 1.

Are Infrared Thermometers Accurate?

With the rise of viruses. Most hospitals and businesses have added temperature checks for their staff. Customers and patients are using infrared thermometers. They offer good efficiency, safety and accuracy in testing for fever in groups of people. They do not actually detect a virus in these people.

Research has shown that infrared or no-contact thermometers. It’s just as accurate as rectal or oral thermometers. No-contact thermometers are popular among paediatricians. Because children often move around when trying to get a temperature read. This also holds true in mass temperature checks. The meter gives safety to both parties while providing a quick and accurate reading.

When available, the internal thermometer is the gold standard. Especially in healthcare. But due to the new virus and the need to quickly. The no-contact thermometer is now the standard. The user needs to follow its instructions. And it will not pick up a fever in a person who has taken fever reducing medications. Many places now require temperature checks. These hand-held thermometers are proving to be quick, safe and accurate. While helping to reduce the spread of viruses.

Non-Contact Thermometer for measuring body temperature

The human body heat level can be measured in many ways. Usually, the body temperature is measured using contact thermometers. Which are placed on the forehead. In the mouth, ear, rectum or armpit. The temperature gun allows a person’s heat level to be taken. With no contact or next to no contact.

This means that your temperature can be checked without any discomfort. Or without having a thermometer in the armpit, mouth, or rectum. And having to leave it there long enough to obtain a correct reading. The lack of contact means the disinfection process between patients is no longer needed. Which allows faster and easier use. When screening large numbers of people. Like in airports or border crossings.

The main types of non-contact thermometers are thermal scanners, non-contact infrared thermometers, tympanic thermometers. Non-contact infrared thermometers are held 3-15 cm away from the patient. Any are usually pointed at the forehead or temple. Hand held thermal scanners can take a person’s temperature. From a larger distance. Compared to other non-contact thermometers. Which makes them a good for use in mass screening.

Types of Radiation Thermometers

Before, the radiation non-contact thermometer consisted of an optical system. Which collected the energy emitted by the target. It was a detector which changed this energy to an electrical signal. And the emissivity was changed to match the thermometer calibration. To the specific emitting characteristics of the target. To ensure that the temperature gun changes inside the thermometer. Due to ambient conditions did not affect its accuracy.

The modern infrared thermometer is still based on this. The technology has become more advanced. To broaden the scope of the applications which can be handled. The number of available IR detectors has grown very much. Thank you to selective filtering ability. These IR detectors can more efficiently be matched to specific applications. Which improves their performance.

Non-contact temperature measurement is the best way. For living, moving, or inaccessible objects. Especially in a process that requires fast response. And levels below 1000 °C (1832 °F). To select the best noncontact temperature measurement device for a specific application. It’s important to know the basics of your measurement.
