How do Tarot Cards work??
The 78 Tarot Card Desk is split into two sections; the 56 Minor Arcana cards and 22 Major Arcana cards. It is known that the Major Arcana cards represent the karmic and spiritual lessons in life, so the bigger events and happenings which shape your life. The Minor Arcana reflect the trials and tribulations of the world that we, as humans, experience daily.
Major Arcana
Major Arcana cards are also known as Trump cards. They include 21 numbered cards and a single unnumbered card which is known as ‘The Fool’. The fool plays a major part in the tarot reading, and moves through each card learning lessons along the way in what is known as the Fool’s Journey.
Major Arcana cards are complex and significant, and the appearance of one will often incidence the entire reading. They are often a prompt to reflect on life’s broader lessons and themes.
Minor Arcana
The Minor Arcana cards contain 16 cards which represent 16 differing personality characteristics which we may choose to express at any given time. The other 40 cards are numbered cards which are organized into 4 suits with 10 cards for each suit. These cards represent different situations which can be translated into our day-to-day life.
Minor Arcana cards relate more to specific daily challenges and represent our thoughts, feelings, experiences and beliefs. They are associated with a more temporary and transitional energy, something that’s affecting your life at that very moment and could be easily influenced.

How To Use Tarot Cards:
Before using your deck, it is important to shuffle it and keep in mind your intentions for the reading, whether it be to tap into your own intuition and wisdom, or for someone else. Consider what you would like to learn or explore throughout this reading. You can think about relationships, changes in your life, or anything else that might be causing you confusion or anxiety. Or simply anything you wish to gain some clarity and insight into.
To begin, you may start by asking the tarot deck questions out loud, such as:
“How can I better understand…?”
“Why am I anxious about… ?”
“Where is the hidden opportunity in…?”
“How can I move past and overcome…?”
There are many different ways to use Spirit Shack Tarot Cards, so make sure to research them and think of the structure you want your reading to take. Tarot Cards should not be used as the be-all and end-all of decision-making. Rather, approach them with an open mind, and they can become a formidable tool to help you consider other perspectives and move forward in the best way possible.
Amy North –
I got the Wild Unknown this deck when it first came out, it cost me a pretty penny but it was always my favourite. The quality of the deck is very good, and the cards are sturdy.
