How Does the Ultraviolet Light Work?

It is regarded among the ghost hunting community that sometimes ghosts only appear in ultraviolet light. It has therefore believed that spirits and ghosts may become more visible in different kinds of lighting, including infrared and ultraviolet light.

UV light has been used throughout the field of forensic research as narrow bands of light colours which are both visible and invisible to our eyes can highlight certain organic material and cancel out other colours. This would make the organic material much more visible due to creating a sharper contrast image, making the whites whiter and the dark materials and colours fade into the background.

This philosophy is being experimented with throughout the paranormal investigation community, as researchers attempt to analyse just why it is that paranormal entities and spirits tend to show up in lighting which we cannot see with the naked eye, such as infrared and ultraviolet.

By using a UV Light which is compromised of both visible and invisible coloured lights with a full spectrum camera, you might be able to see much more paranormal activity than if you are just using regular lighting to illuminate an area.

How To Use It:

This Handheld UV Light Torch for ghost hunting sits at around 365 nm on the wavelength light spectrum. Expect the light that is emitted to be a deepish purple/blue UV light, which you should be able to just about see with the naked eye. This is basically a backlight but for ghost hunting!

It is worth noting that the LED chip from this UV Torch for ghost hunting will not look incredibly bright when you look at it with your eyes. The 365 nm UV light range is just about visible, but is mostly beyond what we can see with the naked human eye. It will appear much brighter on a full-spectrum camera. So make sure to not look directly into the torch, as even though it does not look incredibly bright, it can still damage your eyesight!

Depending on the scope and size of the area of your paranormal investigation, you may want to use this as a backup UV Light alongside a larger one (we stock a large range of UV lights, some freestanding some handhelds like this one). This means that if anything happens to the larger UV light that you can have a backup on hand.

The benefit of having a handheld UV Light for ghost hunting and paranormal investigations is that if you are covering a large area, you can move around freely.
